For over 20 years, this site was a popular source of education, inspiration, and support for people in abusive relationships. DrIrene.com content has been linked to, as well as published in abuse brochures, articles, and books. In addition, sections have been translated into other languages. For years, this site was ranked highly (1st or 2nd page) on Google searches. The site is ancient by 2025 standards thus original navigation does not work. Content is no longer updated, yet the hundreds of pages of information are timeless. You will find articles by Doc and select guest authors, as well as reader-submitted stories, most often with Dr. Irene's commentary.

Doc built the site herself, including the graphics. She begain the update process in late 2019 - and never finished. Navigation is wonky and there are broken links, or no links at all. Remember to use the contents page to get around: Site Contents

Dr. Irene is in private practice in Western North Carolina. Learn about her practice here. She lives with her husband and their cats. She finally wised up and kicked Trubble out years ago. He continues his troublesome virtual existance on this website.
