Monica's Update: Going In The Right Direction!

See Monica's original email and follow-up sounded so hopeless! Just goes to show what setting limits can do.

Dr. Irene,
Thank you for the new list!!! (Working It Out Listbot Support) My husband and I are active on this list and have found it to be a great tool for marital recovery.

We are spending a lot of time discussing the abuse as a result. He and I are seeing our relationship in other peoples posts and gaining new insights. This is such a wonderful way to get couples talking about the abuse and actively pursuing answers instead of sinking into denial.

It is so exciting for me to see my husband eagerly log on after work to read others' posts!! I have never seen him so interested in recovery information!!

Thank you so much for this site and the hope that you have given through providing information vital to recovery. I can't imagine any other format that would get my husband to spend time reading about this stuff - he doesn't generally like to read about abuse. Who does!

We have a lot of work to do, but I am feeling like this is a great place to start. My husband has even started journaling about his painful childhood. I have known this man for 7 years and this blows me away!! Thank you so much.   "Monica"

Dear Monica and Monica's Hubby,

Yippeee! I'm always glad to hear good news about couples working out their abuse issues. Yes, it is do-able when the angry person really, really wants to make his or her life better!

My very best regards to you both, Dr. Irene
